GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The college of Pharmacy and Medical Technology is committed to the integrated development of the total person in a community. Moved by the charity of the Christ, the college aims to nurture in the students the realization of the University motto: VIRTUS ET SCIENTIA.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

To achieve this mission, the College strives to provide and promote the following objectives:
  1. Equip the students with the necessary knowledge and competencies to enable them to meet the demands of their respective professions;
    1. Produce pharmacists who are equipped with the skills and competencies to compound and dispense drugs intelligently, safely and accurately in community and hospital pharmacies and pharmacy manufacturing laboratories and provide sound dispensing information to their clients;
    2. Produce medical technologists who can proficiently and accurately examine specimens, and correlate the results with the condition of the patient;
    3. Produce pharmacy technicians who can ably and intelligently assist the pharmacists in the management of the community, hospital or manufacturing pharmacies.
  2. Inculcate in its students the values of honesty, integrity, patience, and personal concern in their profession;
  3. Implement the necessary internship programs for pharmacy, medical technology, and pharmacy technician courses;
  4. Equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide health information in the proper use of drugs, the prevention of drug abuse and infectious diseases and the utilization of local medicinal plants;
  5. Stimulate and develop the student’s interest in research that could arouse enthusiasm for discoveries and scientific investigations.
  6. Develop service-oriented pharmacists, medical technologists and pharmacy technicians;
  7. Instill in the students the knowledge of the laws and regulations affecting the practice of their profession and to adhere to the same;
  8. Enable its graduates to live and work harmoniously under a genuine Christian atmosphere with other members of the health team for a better delivery of health services;
Above all, the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology hopes to guide and develop the student’s hearts and minds to will what is good and true in the service of God, country and fellowmen.

ADMISSION AND RETENTION

Admission: Upon enrolment, the following original credentials should be presented:
  1. First Year
    1. BS Pharmacy and BS Medical Technology
      1. Form 138 (High School Card) having the notation “Graduated” or “Eligible for College” with a minimum average of 80 percent and at least 80 percent grade in Math, Science and Physics;
      2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from High School graduated;
      3. 4 pcs. ID picture (1x1)
      4. Placement test result
      5. Alien Certificate of Registration
    2. Certificate as Pharmacy Techinician
      1. Form 138 (High School Card) with the notation “Graduated” or “Eligible for College” with a minimum general average of 80 percent and at least a final grade of 78 percent in Math, Science and Physics;
      2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the High School graduated;
      3. 4 pcs. ID pictures (1 x 1)
      4. Placement test result
  2. Transferees (All courses, FIRST and SECOND YEARS ONLY)
    1. Certificate of Honorable Dismissal;
    2. Transcript of Records of previous College or its equivalent with no mark of FAILURE, INCOMPLETE, DROPPED OR WITHDRAWN and with a general average of at least 80 percent (2.5) in all subjects credited to the course;
    3. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the school last attended;
    4. 4 pcs. ID pictures (1 x 1)
Retention: Continued admission to the B.S. Pharmacy, B.S. Medical Technology and Certificate as Pharmacy Technician courses shall be governed by the following requirements:
  1. Students with a grade of FAILURE in any Biological Science or Chemistry or Professional subject will be discouraged from continuing the course and will be advised to shift to other courses; likewise, with students whose final grades in the above subject areas are flat 75 percent.
  2. Students in the above group (A) who insist on continuing with the course will be given a warning and an extension for another semester.;
  3. Two grades of WITHDRAWN or its equivalent (e.g. Re-examination, Pending, etc.) shall be considered as equivalent to one grade of FAILURE.;
  4. Students with TWO FAILURES made in one semester or accumulated from several semesters, one of which is in a major subject area (Biological Sciences, Chemistries or Prof. Subjects) will not be enrolled further in the course.
Old or transferring students with deficiencies or failures who may seek re-admission/admission to the above courses shall be evaluated on a case-to-case basis.
