AUGUSTINIANS in the province of Capiz formally organized themselves into an alumni association in September 2014, as a response to the call of the University for alumni involvement in its various programs and activities.
“The USA Alumni association in Capiz was created first for sentimental reasons,” says the incumbent President, Engr. Jerry D. Hernalin. “The yearning to be with former classmates as well as to renew ties with dear Alma Mater, were the common reasons,” he added.
It was sometime in May 2014 that Engr. Hernalin started to contact his fellow Augustinian alumni – friends, acquaintances, business Alumni association in Capiz formed connections, as well as fraternal brothers and sisters in the Sigma Rho Fraternity. In a month, he was able to gather more than a hundred signatures from people manifesting support to the establishment of the alumni association. A core-group was then formed which, through a series of meetings in August, planned for a General Assembly and Elections. The group included Vilma Braña, Matilde Perez, Josaril Villabeto, Noel Laminares, Raymundo Martinez, Allan Young, Alex Barredo, Alger Inocencio, Tito Bernas, Geronima Gobuyan, Narcisa Artatez, Edselle Almalbis, and Rosario Agojo.
